Artisan Handmade Par-baked Pizza Crusts

Colors Gourmet Pizza Handmade crusts are the perfect solution for many busy kitchens that don't have the time or expertise to produce their own pizza dough from scratch. Our artisan handmade crusts allows the busy chef to consistently present a pizza he can be proud of, one that looks like it was freshly prepared in his own kitchen.

Since 1991, our pizza team has proudly produced high-quality, hand-made pizza crusts for our growing family of customers. All of our crusts are hand pushed in pizza pans, then hand dimpled so your pizzas can never be mistaken for a machine made product. The dimples trap the sauce giving each bite a different amount of sauce-to-crust ratio. The result is a distinct taste profile with the wonderful and unique texture of Colors Pizza Crusts.

We par-bake our crusts in Impinger conveyor ovens. This process helps to retain moisture that results in a soft product that works well in any kind of oven. One of our unique processes is a tomato wash, which adds a light golden hue and speeds up the browning during the final baking, so you may present to your guests the perfect pizza that looks as superb as it tastes.

Since the crusts are par-baked, you need only cook them long enough for the cheese to melt, so you will have fast oven to table convenience. Labor costs are minimized, and the frustration of dough management (mixing, resting, fermenting, staging and shaping) is eliminated. When you add your own special toppings, whether traditional or gourmet, you will be proud of the pizza you are serving to your customers.


California Style Crust

Our California Style Crust has the distinctive hand shaped rolled border we have been perfecting since our very first crust. This medium thick crust is soft and fluffy allowing for a longer final bake time, which reduces the chance of over-browning.

The raised border helps hold the toppings in place and perfectly retains heat making it the ideal crust for room service or buffet applications.

This crust is the preferred choice for American style pizza, which is typically piled high with toppings. The appearance and taste of our California Style Crust make it a favorite for young customers and children menus.

 

Flatbread Style Crust

Our Flatbread Style Crust is reminiscent of hand tossed pizzas and is designed for the chef seeking a rustic appearance to his pizza. This crust is medium thick, which works well for room service and buffet. The finger dimples in the crust hold the sauce and the artisan styling features a graduated edge that gently thins from border to middle, helping to keep the toppings from overflowing in the oven.

As with our California Style Crust, this medium thick crust is fluffier than our Ultrathin crust style, and is "forgiving" when baking times are not precise.

 

Ultrathin Style Crust

Our Ultrathin Style Crust is our thinnest crust, and is made without a raised border to allow edge to edge toppings. With its light texture, this crust works great for non-traditional pizza, allowing you to marry exotic toppings and flavors.

This crust is also recommended for health conscious customers preferring a lighter pizza with less dough, especially when made with whole wheat dough. The Ultrathin Style crust is also ideal for grilled flatbread topped or served with hummus and dipping sauces.

This crust works well with specialty ovens, like Turbochef and also with your grill, salamander or cheese-melter in poolside grills or deli environments.

 

Note: Most of our pizza crust styles come in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 inches. They can also be made with herbs and from whole wheat flour.
